The Woodland Project began in August 2012 when we bought a two acre plot of land in our hometown, Wigan.
This could be described as one of those opportunities that do not come around very often and, whilst the timing may not have been perfect, the opportunity and all that it presented to our family could not be overlooked.
We have various long term visions for this space. Primarily, we wish it be a beautiful, safe, happy place that we can enjoy spending time as a family. We also hope that with a lot of TLC we can restore the area to it's previous glory whilst also simultaneously forming a working relationship with it that allows us to reap many other benefits; We would like to create an allotment/smallholding type area in which we can keep livestock and grow a bounty of fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and trees. Longer term, school/community groups, gardening groups-who knows!
As the land has not been managed for such a long time we really are at the beginning of a long project. We know these ideas will not happen overnight, that it won't all be plain sailing to achieve however, we have made a start and I'd like to document each step along the way; no matter how small.
